Tutorials

Simple scenario usage

The simple scenario is the most common usage of the PI Engine. It consists of capturing HTTP, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL or general network traffic, in a matter of clicks. This is very useful for developers who might need to rapidly see what is going on at protocol level. It is also useful as a tester if you want to rapidly identify which requests are taking a long time to complete. You can download the tutorial here

Service mode usage

This tutorial shows how to configure and setup the Service mode. The Service mode is used on resource critical servers or machines. The engine is setup as a minimal service. All the filterting and alerting mecanism are not handled directly on the same machine but rather on a separate host. This is to minimize the impact on local resources. You can download the tutorial here

Alert configuration

An Alert is defined as being a set conditions along with a set of actions that are executed when the conditions are met. This tutorial shows how to configure such alerts by creating a set of conditions or filters and by configuring built-in executors such as send mail or append to file. The tutorial also shows how to create your own custom executors. You can download it here

Http stress tester

The engine is capable of performing accurate Http stress tests. This tutorial shows how to achieve this by using the graphical interface. You can download the tutorial here

Sql server stress tester

This tutorial shows how to perform SQL Server stress test by using the graphical interface. You can download the tutorial here

MySQL stress tester

This tutorial shows how to perform MySQL stress test by using the graphical interface. You can download the tutorial here

Oracle stress tester

This tutorial shows how to perform Oracle stress test by using the graphical interface. You can download the tutorial here

Using the LoadTester.exe command line tool

LoadTester is a command line tool that is capable of launching predefined stress test scenarios. You can use this tool to integrate stress testing within your testing solution. You can download the tutorial here
